Guston Uptown

This is a Guston from up at the MET you can go see any day and a Kline I though t had a nice relationship to what I was thinking.

Hockney at Pace Uptown

I like the plain old landscapes. When he goes to transpose them into larger paintings he kind of dashes it off-- needs a bit more thought --at least to get near Guston. I like his drawing he takes from Van Gogh, and then Picasso--with just a bit more work he would rise above it into something of his own. Too bad to criticize someone of his age and still going for it. But silly the comparisons to Constable and Turner they are making in England.

Though its about the only interesting contemporary landscape happening.

Carroll Dunham, David Hockney, a Picasso

All of a sudden this all looks kind of luke warm. Guston just bowls one over still.

Molissa Fenley at the Judson Church

Molissa has created many momentous memories in her career and last evening she proved she could create another. Bob Holman read a dance lenght poem, which worked terrificly along with music by John Cage and the dancing. In another dance with a length of pole Molissa was beautifully wedged between dance and sculpture.
