Tony Delap here at Charlotte Jackson's Gallery was John McCracken's teacher.
Looking at earlier work one can see the connection.
John always talked very well of Delap and I think if John had lived longer he might have said something about these. I thought they looked good.
John said the plank was a link from painting to sculpture. I see this in Delap also.
Celayas work here seems souvenoirs from his show at Site Santa Fe. I like Celaya, especially the paintings. Here he stretches himself thin. The romantic wispy never reaches surface or some resolution. Stays wisping around, which seems all effect, which the crowd likes. A popular show which is in a good direction for Site.
Allan Graham at David Richard Gallery. These are interesting to see in light of Chris Wool's Guggenheim show coming up.
They are rough in their execution, but a certain lead smear takes away from a total bang, which lingers into the poetry and the individual lurking beneath.
These have a connection to poetry and I liked the installation of his wife Gloria Graham.
